“The Bush Waki”

So, you want to fulfill your childhood dream of having a bomb proof, fully legit sword with all the goodies, made from the best super steel and offered at an affordable price? You’ve come to the right place.

I’ve long had the dream of creating a functional, beautiful, and affordable sword to smash stuff with. Around 8 years ago, I first came up with the concept for my everyman sword. I called it the ‘Bush Waki,” short for Wakizashi. The concept was a blade with traditional Japanese features that was ultra durable, and could handle pretty much anything you threw at it.

Well, life and building a career got in the way, and the Bush Waki was put on hold for almost a decade.

With me transitioning into semi- full time knife making, dusting off the Bush Waki and bringing it to life was a total no brainer.

I’ve decided to produce two swords in 2026. The Tyrant Katana Magnum Opus, (a historically faithful blade made for high level cutting with all the bells and whistles) and the Bush Wakizashi Mega, an everyman sword built for fun, that looks the part and packs a seriously nasty punch.

While prototyping this design, I had to balance all of the factors. I wanted a blade that would be made from the best materials, would be ultra robust, look the part, AND most critically, come in at an affordable price point.

Engineering a blade that would meet all of these requirements wasn’t easy, but I think what we came up something that fits the bill.

After countless hours of prototyping, modeling, and tool path simulations, we settled on a kick @$$ design that perfectly encapsulates everything Huntsman Knife Co. is about.

Becoming “Mega”

While working through prototypes, we decided we had to do something special. There were a few swords from good makers in the 29-30in range, but nothing beyond that, so we decided to max out the stats and push this thing to the very limit of what is considered a Wakizashi. We upgraded the length from 30in to 34in overall, added a full blown coffin scale handle assembly with a steel guard, collar, and pommel, and have it available at an aggressive price point with plenty of options to dress it up. And don’t tell anyone, but we will be doing special pricing for the launch. This blade doesn’t just look the part, every single aspect of the design is engineered for performance. The center of balance, center of percussion, and overall size have all been carefully crafted to create a blade that will sail through targets with next to no vibration or discomfort.

Objectively, this is the biggest, baddest, and highest build quality sword you can possibly get for your $. Nothing else even comes close.
